New Jersey Nursing CE Requirements

Registered Nurses (RNs) must complete 30 contact hours of continuing education every two years. This includes 1 hour focused on prescription opioid drugs, covering alternatives for pain management and treatment, as well as the risks of opioid misuse, addiction, and diversion. Additionally, there is a one-time requirement of 1 contact hour on Organ and Tissue Donation and Recovery.

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are also required to complete 30 contact hours every two years, which must include 1 hour addressing prescription opioid drugs, alternatives to opioids for pain management, and the associated risks of abuse, addiction, and diversion.
